Some crazy stuff going on

First off, I want to deal with Bart Hubbuch’s twitter comments about the Jets website.

Brunell $24.7 in the hole

According to the Florida Times-Union, quarterback Mark Brunell is in a major financial hole.

“Former Jaguars quarterback Mark Brunell has assets of $5.5 million, but liabilities of nearly five times that, according to his bankruptcy filing,” wrote Roger Bull in the FTU. “The petition, filed Friday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court, lists $24.7 million in liabilities. The filing lists his only current monthly income as $5,000 as president of Mark Brunell Enterprises, which operates football camps. His wife, Stacy, also makes $5,000 a month from Mark Brunell Enterprises, for a combined take-home income total of $8,780.”

Brunell is expected to sign with the Jets as a backup sometime this summer.

Taylor’s response

Jason Taylor has said repeatedly the Miami Dolphins never offered him a contract this off-season.
But in late April, a league source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter, off the record, that Miami did offer the
outside linebacker a deal in 2010.
Taylor says this claim isn’t true.
“Whoever from Miami told you they offered me a contract is flat-out lying and they know they are lying,” Taylor said in the June issue of Jets Confidential.

This is meaningless

It’s irrelevent who starts at tailback for the Jets.
Both LaDainian Tomlinson and Shonn Greene are going to get a lot of touches.
LT was asked recently by ESPN’s Sal Palantonio if he thinks he’s going to start.
“I think the best man is gonna win the starting job,” Tomlinson said. “I’m tired of being doubted by so many people about what I can do.”
Whether he starts or not, the Jets don’t seem to doubt what he can do. He’s going to be a major role, especially catching the ball out of backfield.

JC Radio – Tuesday, 5 PM

Ethan J. Skolnick will be Pigskin’s guest on Jets Confidential Radio this week. The show is on at 5 PM on Tuesday night. Skolnick cover the Dolphins (along with other things) for the Sun-Sentinel.

No suspension for Bray

Jets receiver Braylon Edwards won’t be suspended by the NFL for a nightclub fight. The announcement was made by Rich Cimini.
“New York Jets wide receiver Braylon Edwards, who pleaded no contest in January to misdemeanor assault stemming from an incident outside a Cleveland nightclub, will not be suspended by the NFL under its personal-conduct policy, a league source told ESPNNewYork.com,” wrote Cimini.

Revis to help Finnegan

Tennessee Titans cornerback Cortland Finnegan is going to spend the next few weeks training in Arizona with Darrelle Revis.

“I plan to work about three weeks with the fella,’’ Finnegan told the Nashville Tennessean. “I just want to learn something from him because he is so good at what he does. It is going to be beneficial for me for me for sure. I could probably teach him how to wear Vans, that’s about it. We are two totally different players, really. He is asked to shut down a receiver and our defense is totally different from their defense, what we’re asked to do. But I can learn from him for sure. I wish I could teach him something, but I’ve got nothing for him.’’

It’s kind for strange for players in the same conference, competing for the same playoff spots, to help each other. But perhaps it’s no big deal.

Lynch high on the Jets

Bills RB Marshawn Lynch is impressed with the Jets off-season additions.

“I’m probably not supposed to say that, but I’m excited to see what the Jets are going to do,” Lynch said to ESPN. “They made so many moves it’s hard to just pinpoint one. I am a running back, and LT … Man, one of the best that ever did it. I’m going to be excited to see him twice a year. Santonio and [Darrelle] Revis and Cromartie over there, that’s going to be interesting.”

Brunell files for bankruptcy

According to the Florida Times-Union, quarterback Mark Brunell filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy this morning in Jacksonville, Fla.

Over the course of his long career, Brunell has made around $52 million.

He lost the money due to bad real estate investments.

“The timing of the group’s real estate acquisitions at the height of the real estate market, in hindsight, clearly was not good,” Brunell said in an e-mail to the Times-Union. “In the end, we couldn’t and I am no longer able to shoulder this burden.”

Brunell is expected to sign with the Jets some time this summer.

Jets don’t have to deal with nonsense

The Jets and their fans must be thrilled they didn’t have to deal with Brett Favre’s theatrics the last two off-seasons.
A lot of his apologists thinks this is fine, but really unfair to his current team (and former teams). As like most off-seasons over the last five years or so, Favre refuses to make a decision on whether he’s going to play the upcoming season, and we are almost in July.
“I do know when it’s over, it’s over,” Favre told his high school buddy Al Jones from the Biloxi newspaper. “I can’t play forever. It’s not like being a dentist or playing golf, I can’t play football forever. I just don’t know. I do not want to stir the pot. If it (comment) comes from me, it’s a big deal. At my age, all surgeries are major. The three I’ve had on the same ankle were considered minor, but major to me. It feels fine now. If my body was a wreck, the decision would be made. But that is not the case. I know they (Vikings) want to know. Hell, I want to know. But I am not going to press it.”
The Jets made the right decision releasing him early in 2009.
Who needs this nonsense?
