Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports is reporting some explosive allegations against agent Gary Wichard, who represents Jason Taylor, Antonio Cromartie and many other NFL players.
“Wichard and former University of North Carolina assistant football coach John Blake have engaged in multiple financial transactions since May of 2007, a four-month investigation by Yahoo! Sports has found,” wrote Robinson. “Wichard and Blake are now at the center of NCAA and North Carolina Secretary of State probes, which are seeking to determine the nature and scope of alleged agent tampering involving the football program. Those investigations have also focused on Tar Heels defensive tackle Marvin Austin, who has made at least five trips that have come under scrutiny. Two of those trips included training at a California facility less than two miles from Wichard’s agency, Pro Tect Management. Yahoo! Sports has obtained a hotel receipt from one of those trips, which lists Austin’s name above Pro Tect Management, as well as an address and Marriott Rewards number belonging to an NFL marketing agent who represents two current Pro Tect clients (one is Cromartie).”

Brian Schottenheimer feels the teams pass protection was the key to the team’s success in Miami.
“Pass protection last week was outstanding,” said Schottenehimer. “Damien Woody did a great job on Cameron Wake.
“LT is a great player. We aren’t getting anything we didn’t expect. We feel good about how he’s playing.
“We want to be balanced. We have a ton of weapons.
“With the development of Mark, you are seeing us be more balanced. I can’t say enough about his preparation. He is playing the way he’s playing because of the work he’s putting in during the week.”
Jets DE Trevor Pryce -
“If you stay around the NFL long enough, nothing surprises you, including getting released in Week Four. I’m humbled that Rex wanted me to play here. Some other teams called. He’s such a loyal guy to his guys. [The Ravens] were only casting me off for a week. It came out of nowhere. It you are a vested (veteran), you get to pick and chose. I was brought here as a pass rusher. They took a calculated risk. I think they thought teams would call, but I don’t think they thought things wouldn’t happen so fast. Looking at their playbook, it was really, really similar to our playbook. When you get older, you can run fast, but not as many times in a row.
“I have friends on that team. Ed Reed, Kelly Gregg, Terrell Suggs, Jared Johnson, those guys will be my friends the rest of my live. I’m going to live in Maryland the rest of my life. John (Harbaugh) was very cool about it. He was as positive as he could be. It was a half hour talk. He said he really didn’t want to do it, but needed a spot until Monday. John was very candid that we were bringing him back Monday. My agent knew that if Rex called, that is where I was going.”
In the first three weeks of the season, Trevor Pryce had one assisted tackle according to the Baltimore coach’s tape. That’s it.
But the Jets feel he should help them as an inside pass rusher.
He’s a saavy, instinctive pass rusher. He knows what he’s doing out there.
And he is an upgrade over Vernon Gholston, who lacks the requisite size to have much of a impact as a 3-4 end. Though the Jets will never admit that.
So Pryce should definitely upgrade the backup end positions.
The Jets gave Howard Green a two-year contract after Kris Jenkins season-ending knee injury.
Rex talked about how great it was to have “Big Howard” back.
Green played in two games.
He caused a fumble and had a QB pressure in brief action.
He was released on Thursday to make room for defensive end Trevor Pryce.
It just never stops.
After letting Chauncey Washington walk from their practice squad to keep Patrick Turner, the Jets signed two players to their practice squad.
“The Jets signed running back Xavier Omon and offensive guard Chad Rinehart to the practice squad,” wrote Aaron Wilson of NFP. “Omon played at Northwest Missouri State. Rinehart played at Northern Iowa. They tried out for the Jets on Tuesday along with running backs Ian Johnson, Pat Paschall and defensive back Richard Taylor, per a league source.”
Bills massive, talented defensive end Marcus Stroud is likely going to miss the Jets-Buffalo game. The announcement was made by Mark “Going, Going” Gaughan of the Buffalo News.
“Marcus Stroud had his left foot in a boot on Wednesday and is not looking promising to play Sunday vs. the New York Jets,” wrote Gaughan. “Bills coach Chan Gailey said he thinks Stroud is the only player who may miss the game due to injury. Gailey expects linebacker Paul Posluszny, out the past two weeks, to play. Posluszny was practicing on Wednesday. Tight end Jonathan Stupar did not appear to be practicing, but he’s expected to be ready.”
The Bills have signed OLB Chris Kelsay to a contract extension. The announcement was made by Mark “Going, Going” Gaughan of the Buffalo News.
“Buffalo Bills outside linebacker Chris Kelsay confirmed today he signed a contract extension with the team on Tuesday,” wrote Gaughan. “Kelsay was in the final year of his contract with the Bills. The extension runs for four years and is believed to be worth about $24 million. The deal is very similar to his current deal, which avearged $5.75 million a year and was signed prior to the 2007 season.”
The secondary had a shaky game, Let us look at what the heck is going on. Dan puts the deep patrol under the microscope . . . just $7.95 per month.
