Perhaps the Jets and their fans were spared the ultimate agony of losing a Super Bowl.
If the Jets had advanced to Dallas, I think they would have lost to Green Bay.
The red-hot Aaron Rogers, with four dangerous receivers (Donald Driver, Greg Jennings, James Jones and Jordy Nelson), in a dome, in perfect playing condition, likely would have been too much for the Jets to handle. Especially, when you consider the Jets pedestrian pass rush. You give that guy time to throw, he will pick you apart.
Did you see what Rogers did to Atlanta in the Georgia Dome a few weeks ago? He was unreal. You put him outside, in bad winter conditions, like Chicago, you can slow him down a little. But inside, look out!
On top of that, let’s not forget the Green Bay defense shutout the Jets in the New Meadowlands this season. Dom Capers has them playing on a high level.
So just like I think Pittsburgh is going to lose to Green Bay, I think the Jets would have also.
So maybe it’s better for Jets fans, from a agony standpoint, to lose in the AFC Championship Game, than in the biggest game of them all.

NFL Players Association Executive Director DeMaurice Smith and Commissioner Roger Goodell met today in New York to discuss a range of issues related to a new Collective Bargaining Agreement. As part of a process to intensify negotiations, they agreed to hold a formal bargaining session with both negotiating teams on Saturday in the Dallas area. They also agreed to a series of meetings over the next few weeks, both formal bargaining sessions and smaller group meetings, in an effort to reach a new agreement by early March.
It’s really hard to be too critical of the secondary in a game that they allowed only 10 completions. Dan looks back and ahead with the secondary in this extensive breakdown.

If the Jets replace Sal Alosi as strength coach (and I hope they don’t), perhaps they could hire this guy.
Down on the field at the Senior Bowl, in Mobile, Fox Sports’ NFL Insider Jay Glazer was recruiting players to train at his MMA facility.
He was seen attempting to get the Cincinnati Bengals to use his services, while there as a reporter.
He really wants a chance to train linebacker Rey Maulaluga.
“That’s who I want,” Glazer told the Bengals website. “Maualuga. “He has my attitude.”
Glazer using a reporter’s credential to recruit for his other business is a major conflict of interest, but if the NFL is going to allow him to do it, perhaps he deserves kudos for his entrepreneurial spirit.
Justin Houston – Outside Linebacker – University of Georgia.
This according to PFW’s Nolan Nawrocki in his latest mock draft.
Houston is a 6-3, 258-pound outside linebacker/pass rusher out of Georgia, who had 10 sacks this year for the Bulldogs. He is coming out after his junior year.
Even if Brian Schottenheimer were offered the Titans job, he should turn it down.
It’s an awful head coaching position.
The owner meddles, and doesn’t like spending money.
I’m surprised Jeff Fisher stayed as long as he did. I think it was because he loves living in Nashville.
I know some of you would love for Schotty to get this job (not because you are fans of his), but he would be nuts to even consider it.
It’s a dead end job.
Why are some people trying to run LaDainian Tomlinson out of town?
He’s still a solid player.
In a running back platoon, he ran for 912 yards and caught 52 passes. Is that bad?
He also did some very good blocking.
On top of all that, he doesn’t make a lot of money next year.
Tomlinson and Shonn Greene compliment each other well, and you do need three good running backs in this league. So Joe McKnight’s presence doesn’t mean the Jets should dump Tomlinson.
I just don’t get his constant disrespect for LT.
Is he the LT of six, seven years ago, probably not.
But he’s still a good player.
Jets rookie cornerback Kyle Wilson needs to improve his “consistency” to take the next step, according to Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum.
“Kyle’s future is one of our paramount objectives this off-season,” Tannenbaum said. ”He needs to make more plays on the ball. He seemed like he was somewhat tentative.”
