Florham Park – Never a dull moment here in beautiful Florham Park, New Jersey. Dan checks in with a heaping helping from the heart of Jets country . . .
This Quincy Enunwa (pictured above – addressing media today about his arrest) situation is almost depressing to me.
In a sports, there are so many knuckleheads who get in trouble, so many players with character issues.
Then there are players like Enunwa who come in with impeccable character who speak the King’s English, and you almost get excited to cover them, and you feel there is hope for society.
“He has excellent intangibles,” said Nolan Nawrocki. “He is a team captain with an excellent approach and leadership traits.”

As most of you know by now, TMZ reported today, “”Enunwa was arrested Sunday evening after allegedly getting into a fight at a New Jersey hotel. He was charged with simple assault stemming from an altercation while staying at the Wyndham Hamilton Park Hotel. He was transported to a nearby station where he was booked and released. We’re told the alleged victim suffered minor injuries and did not need to go to the hospital.”
It turns out the alleged victim is his girlfriend.
Due process is so important. Let’s see what comes out.
But when I heard that Enunwa was arrested, I was shocked.
The guy came in with an impeccable reputation . . .
Two months ago, Dennis Allen said that Matt Schaub was still one of the top 10 quarterbacks in the NFL.
Now, a Top 10 quarterback, is a backup.
I watched a lot of the Raiders in the preseason, and I think they overreacted to the fourth preseason game.
Carr threw three touchdowns in this game, but two of them weren’t that impressive.
He threw a touchdown to TE Mychal Rivera that LB Malcolm Smith (Super Bowl MVP) should have picked off, but it went through his hands, and Rivera was able to make the catch.
Another touchdown, the one given up by Phillip Adams, was terrible coverage by the current Jet. Adams was covering Denarius Moore down the right sideline, and Adams stopping running with him in the middle of the route, creating a big gap, and Carr hit Moore for a 37-yard touchdown.
I don’t think Carr is ready, and I think this was an owner’s decision.
The decision to start Carr so early, Week One on the road, I think will help lead to a Jets victory in this game.
You don’t put quarterbacks in Canton based on the fourth preseason game . .
Here is an injury to keep an eye on – Raiders MLB Nick Roach – who still hasn’t been cleared after a concussion.
Roach is a very good football player. He had a terrific season last year, playing every defensive snap.
Typical Northwestern product – very bright. If he can’t do, this will certainly help the Jets. Roach gets the defense lined up . . .
I spoke to Jets special team’s ace Nick Bellore today, and he feels he’s going to play. He’s dealing with a quad injury suffered against the Football Giants . . .
From what I saw today, Dee Milliner isn’t playing in this game.
Usually, Jets players come back on a limited basis for a few days, or a week, and then they are elevated to “practice full” status.
This is the progression the Jets trainers use.
Milliner isn’t even practicing on a limited basis yet, and it’s Wednesday.
I’m not saying the Jets should overlook the Raiders, but I think they believe they can get by this game, without Milliner, and really need him for upcoming encounters like Green Bay, Detroit and Chicago. Plus, he’s really not ready yet.
