A really good 2nd-3rd round LB – good cover guy

Q)How much did you move around at linebacker while at BYU?

Kyle Van Noy – BYU: I moved around a lot. I played Will and Sam, the outsides. And then when we went into the nickel package, I kind of played the rover.

Q)Is there a secret to forcing 11 fumbles in your career?

Van Noy: I feel like every time you get a sack, you try to get the ball out. Quarterbacks, some can’t see you from the backside or some are looking down field when you’re coming from the front side. I feel like getting the ball is key. At the end of the day it’s all about getting the ball.

Q)What kind of leader are you on the field?

Van Noy: I was allowed to check plays if I saw something that I didn’t feel comfortable scheme-wise. I was on the same page with the coaching staff for the defensive calls. I can call plays.

Q)How much did the bowl game against San Diego State last year help your draft stock (3.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, a forced fumble he recovered for a touchdown, an interception he returned for a touchdown and a blocked punt)?

Van Noy: For me it was unbelievable. I hit every category in one game and scored touchdowns in one
game. I look back and I think about how fortunate I was to have guys around me doing their job and being able to put points up and winning the game was pretty fun.

Q)Did you think of entering the draft after that game last year?

Van Noy: Not necessarily. I don’t want to take anything back. I learned a lot this year. I graduated and I enjoyed the process.
