ESPN New York’s Rich Cimini got some quotes, from an unnamed NFL GM, insulting Jets owner Woody Johnson
“When is the last good decision he made?” asked a longtime GM, speaking on the condition of anonymity. “He wouldn’t know what a good decision is.
“I don’t think anybody who has other options will want to go there. The only person they might get is a guy with nothing else or a guy who just wants a job.”
Johnson gets trashed so much by the New York press, it’s confusing as to why he agrees to do interviews with them. He was recently called “clueless,” by another ESPN New York writer, Ian O’Connor.
As for his inability to make a good decision, it’s only fair to point out that he hired the nation’s top sports executive head hunter, Jed Hughes, to help with the search.
So he deserves credit for being smart enough to know that he’s not a football guru, he’s a businessman, so he hired Hughes.
