Cortland – Vlad Ducasse Update

This is a big summer for Jets fourth-year guard Vlad Ducasse.

He’s sitting on top of the Jets’ roster bubble.

And to his credit, he’s had a pretty good camp.

One of the keys is that the Jets aren’t moving him around; he staying at right guard, and looks comfortable there.

The Jets moved him around too much his first three years, between both guard and both tackle spots. The player’s head was spinning.

He came to the Jets not a “move around” kind of player.

He was very raw, and still thinking in Creole. The Haiti-native had to translate the plays in his head to English.

And three offenses in three years hasn’t helped the player either.

He’s probably a long-shot to make the Jets with the drafting of linemen Brian Winters and Oday Aboushi, along with the emergence of undrafted free agent Dalton Freeman.

However, a good summer in training camp, and in the preseason, could help Ducasse land a job elsewhere if he doesn’t make the Jets roster.

And keeping him at one position is a very good thing for the player.
