Dolphins add CB Brent Grimes

(Press Release) – The Miami Dolphins have signed cornerback Brent Grimes, the team announced today.

“We are very excited that we were able to reach an agreement with Brent,” said Dolphins General Manager Jeff Ireland. “His experience and history of play making production will add a great deal to our secondary.”

The 5-10, 183-pound Grimes joins Miami after spending the last six seasons with the Atlanta Falcons (2007-12), where he played in 59 games with 43 starts. He has notched 205 tackles, 13 interceptions and 56 passes defensed in his career. He was originally signed as a rookie free agent by the Atlanta Falcons on May 16, 2006. Grimes was also a 2010 Pro Bowl selection.

Grimes played in 43 games for the Shippensburg Red Raiders and amassed 140 tackles in addition to setting school records with 38 career passes defensed and 27 interceptions, which was also a conference record. He holds the Shippensburg all-time mark with 82 punt returns for 1,126 yards and ranks fourth all-time in school annals with 1,183 yards on 45 kickoff returns with three returns for touchdowns. Grimes earned first-team All-America honors as a junior and senior in addition to being named to the second-team as a sophomore. Born July 19, 1983 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Grimes attended Northeast High School.
