It’s time for Part II of series on fighting back, which is something people in that building need to begin doing more . . .
Yesterday, yesterday, we got into the guff the Jets take from NFL Media, which is flat-out shocking to me considering they are partners in this enterprise.
They need to fight back on that.
But the even bigger problem is the mainstream media. Man do the JEts have a problem here.
And they better start doing something about it.
It’s destroying their reputation. Big-time.
People will say there is nothing you can do about. But I don’t agree.
It’s just like parenting – if you don’t discipline people, nothing will change. People get away with what they can. It’s human nature.
Jets need a different approach. They need to tweak their strategy. Maybe hire a PR consulting firm of some kind.
There are people who write the worst things, and they come back to the complex after that, and nothing happens. It’s like business as usual.
There is a long-time NFL columnist, who destroys the Jets on a regular basis, and even predicted an 0-16 season, and when he actually comes to the complex and games, they give him extra passes for his family. This happens all the time.
If I were running the Jets, this would stop.
You can cover the locker room dude, but until you stop libeling us, no passes for your family.
There is a beat writer who has been making their lives miserable for about six years now, and miserable might be an understatement.
And when he goes in the locker room, he does whatever he pleases, conducting long interviews with players, some like a half-hour, peppering them with questions, hoping for a slip-up, and the organization lets him do it, unencumbered.
You can’t let him do this.
First of all, he’s been the bane of your existence the last six years.
Secondly, you need can’t let a guy like this go over to Sheldon Richardson for a half-hour with no monitoring.
He has lost that right. He is your enemy.
He called your best player, “A Good Year Blimp.”
How about after five minutes you say, “Sheldon has to go?”
You make the rules, not him.
Are you scared of him?
What is he going to do? Scream and yell? Who cares? It’s your building. Tell security to escort him out.
Start showing more backbone. Fight back.
No, it’s just about winning more.
It’s about common decency.
Man, if I were running the Jets things would be so different.
I wouldn’t put up with this crap.
These people are destroying your reputation on a daily basis. They have turned you into a punch-line.
At what point are you going to say, “I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore.”
To this day, I don’t understand why Mike Maccagnan didn’t show any fire after the season when asked about Adam Schefter’s hatchet job on Christian Hackenberg.
He basically said he wasn’t going to respond to unnamed quotes.
Dude, they came from your building?
Why not say, “We are going to get the bottom of the leaks, and Christian Hackenberg is working his ass off and deserves better than that. For goodness sake, the kid has never played in game. Give him a break.”
But no, the Jets just took it.
It’s time to fight back.
And there are ways you can.
I don’t want to hear there aren’t.
