Instant gratification society not good for Jace Amaro

Cortland – I keep reading stories that talk about how Jace Amaro is struggling.

Jeez, what did everyone expect?

He played in the slot at Texas Tech last year, and is trying to make the transition to NFL tight end.

Did people expect a walk on the beach?

He has a ton work to do on route-running and in-line blocking.

The Jets need to take it slow with this guy, have him in a limited role until he figures out what is going on out there.

To me, he’s not struggling, but learning, going through a maturation process.

He just turned 22, and came out of school early.

Don’t expect Antonio Gates from the get-go.

The kid needs time.
