Is Scott right about the talent level?

So what was the biggest problem with the 2012 New York Jets?

“You know what the problem was with the New York Jets this year? We didn’t have enough quality players to win. Simple as that,” Bart Scott said on Showtime.

That might have been part of the problem, but there probably was a bigger one.

New Chicago Bears coach Marc Trestman put it best today when talking about his new team.

“The quarterback absolutely must play at a high level,” Trestman said.

With the Jets, the performance at the quarterback position was probably their biggest problem in 2012. The starting quarterback didn’t play at a high level, and turned the ball over too much.

This is a quarterback-driven league.

There is no way around that.
