It’s hard for Rex to verify this Dan Leberfeld

When asked about quarterback Geno Smith today, Rex Ryan said, “He’s our quarterback and our football team believes in him.”

Did he do a poll of the roster?

I’m not being flippant, just keeping it real.

How does he know that every player on the roster believes in Smith?

There is no way for him to know that.

Honestly, the decision on who the Jets start at quarterback is up to Ryan, John Idzik and Woody Johnson.

They believe in Smith. That we know for sure.

As for the entire team, it’s hard to tell.

Perhaps there are some Jets veterans who think Mike Vick gives them a better chance to win.

So Rex saying, “our football team believes in him,” might be a leap of faith.
