Jay-Z reportedly plans to get certified by NFLPA

Geno Smith recently signed with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation to represent him.

The NFLPA is investigating whether Jay-Z illegally recruited Smith, since the music mogul isn’t a certified agent.

Smith’s contract with the Jets will be negotiated by an agent Jay-Z has hired named Kim Miale.

But according to former agent, Joel Corry, who writes for the National Football Post, Jay-Z might be looking to become a certified agent himself.

“Jay-Z reportedly plans to seek NFLPA certification but may have difficulty meeting the requirements,” wrote Corry. “The NFLPA requires a postgraduate degree but allows for limited exceptions. The degree requirement can be waived with an undergraduate degree and proof of at least seven years of negotiating experience.”
