Andrew LeRay of newyorkjets.com caught up with Jeff Cumberland this week, and reports the tight end, who tore his achilles tendon in September, has been “cleared for light jogging and moderate lower-body weightlifting.”
Cumberland’s goal is to be ready for Week One of the 2012 season.
“Once I’m out there, I want it to be 100 percent,” Cumberland told LeRay. “Whenever it’s healed, it’s healed. As long as I’m able to play that first game of the season, I’m good to go. That’s the most important part. What is it to be ready for practice and then you mess it up because you weren’t ready? You’re here for the games.”
