Troy – Jets nickel back Drew Coleman struggled covering Detroit’s Nate Burleson in the slot. It was a rough game for Coleman. He gave up a number of receptions to Burleson, including a two-yard touchdown catch in the fourth quarter.
Coleman took the place of rookie Kyle Wilson at the nickel spot last month, but the veteran hasn’t been much better.
The best candidate for the nickel spot, Marquice Cole, whose talent the Jets continue to underestimate, unfortunately probably won’t be an option against Cleveland.
He suffered what looks like a pretty severe hamstring injury in Detroit. He had trouble walking after the game. Cole doesn’t look like a player who is going to be available this week.
Cole is clearly better than Wilson and Coleman right now, but Mike Pettine, for some reason, is a big fan of Coleman.
