Jets had this guy’s number, and now they face again

With starting center Roberto Garza out due to an ankle injury, the Chicago Bears will start Brian De La Puente.

Last year he started for the New Orleans, and in the Jets’ upset over the Saints, the Jets gave him fits.

Here are some examples . . .

*In the second quarter, Kenrick Ellis pushed back De La Puente, forcing Drew Brees to roll right and throw the ball away.

*Also in the second quarter, Ellis pushed back De La Puente again, and the defensive tackle stopped RB Mark Ingram after a gain of two.

*In the early fourth quarter, Damon Harrison blew by De La Puente and stopped RB Pierre Thomas for a loss of one.

*On the Saints’ final possession of the game, Sheldon Richardson beat De La Puente with a spin move, and forced Brees to throw an errant pass over the middle to WR Lance Moore.

So the Jets’ interior linemen enter this game with a great deal of confidence, knowing De La Puente is a player they can take advantage of.
