On October 1, the Jets put linebacker Josh Martin on injured reserve with a concussion.
Martin was one of the Jets’ best special teams’ players the last couple of years, and the coordinator of that unit got a little emotional talking about his loss.
“Josh has been here with me since I’ve been here,” Brant Boyer said on Thursday in Florham Park. “He’s one of those guys that does everything right. You tell him one time, you don’t have to tell him twice. And that’s pretty rare sometimes. Josh has been a leader, he’s been fantastic to deal with, he is a professional. I think he’s been top one or two in production points for two years that I’ve been here. He was on his way to being (that again for the third time). You lose a guy like that it’s a huge loss. He’s an outstanding person and it’s a huge loss when you lose a guy like that.”
Martin’s career is likely over after suffering four concussions the last three years.
