One thing in defense of Rex

While  Rex doesn’t get high marks for his handling of Gholston the last two years, he needs to be cut a little slack.

Why?

He was clearly taking one for the organization, so to speak.

I don’t think Rex believed half the stuff he said about Vernon, but he was running cover for upper management.

The Jets picked him very high and paid him a lot of money.

Powers above Rex wanted him to make the Gholston project work.

So he played an adult game of pretend the last two years.

It was annoying, but he was clearly doing a favor to people above him.

But now Gholston is gone, so Rex needs to stop the spin, wish Vernon luck, and move on.

Stop with the “improvement” rhetoric.

Because if he did improve, he should still be with the team.
