Oprah doesn’t like Jay Z using the N-Word in songs

While there is a media feeding frenzy on Philadelphia Eagles WR Riley Cooper for using the N-Word, maybe we can use this as a teachable moment, and all put an end to using this word which has a terrible history.

In 2009, Oprah, during an interview with Jay Z for O Magazine, expressed her discontent with his constant use of the word in his songs.

“I was once at a Jay-Z concert, and there was a moment when everybody—including white people—was screaming the N word. I gotta tell you, it didn’t make me feel good.

“When I met you a few years ago, we discussed our disagreement over the use of the N-word and misogynist lyrics in rap music. Do you believe that using the N word is necessary?”

No, it’s not.

Let’s all stop.
