Raiders defense vulnerable

Wow, did the Raiders defense look bad in the second half last week against Buffalo.

They gave up 35 points in the half. The Bills scored on all five of their second half possessions.

The Raiders put in a new defense this summer under coordinator Chuck Bresnahan, and there are players who are clearly lost right now.

Two guys who looked particularly confused against Buffalo were middle linebacker Rolando McClain and safety Tyvon Branch.

On RB Fred Jackson’s long touchdown run, McClain looked like he was playing half speed.

On WR David Nelson’s game-winning touchdown, in the middle of the end zone, there was nobody near him. There was a blown coverage of biblical proportions.

If Mark Sanchez is a good quarterback, he should be able to get a lot done against a Raider defense that is somewhat lost right now.
