East Rutherford – Jets #2 quarterback Mark Brunell missed the team’s preseason game against Cincinnati with a calf injury.
The injury was suffered in practice last week.
So when will he be available again?
“It’s hard to say with calf injuries and things,” Rex Ryan said. “I’m not real sure how long it will be. I hope he’s ready for our first game against Dallas. I’m sure he will be, but I will leave it to the experts, because every time I talk about [injuries] I get it all messed up.”
Unfortunately, the media isn’t allowed to speak to the Jets doctors or trainer John “Unchained” Mellody, so Rex’s answers are all we can go by.
But the way rookie quarterback Greg McElroy is playing, the Jets should be able to get by for a few games with the Alabama-product in the #2 roll, if Brunell has to miss some games.
