Rex Ryan on what OTA’s are all about

The Jets are in the OTA-phase of the off-season.

What the heck are OTA’s?

“It’s not real football yet, but it’s close,” Rex Ryan said. “It’s closer than what we’ve had. So that’s been good.

“Phase One (of the off-season) is a little painful because you’re doing all these walk-throughs and you can throw the ball on air.

“But it’s a little different when you’ve got a defense out there (in OTA’s). The main thing is I challenge our team, this time (of year) is about self-improvement, but it’s also about making your teammate better.

“You try to be competitive but you also try to take care of your teammate. We had a couple of things (last week) that we’ve got to clean up. You never want to put your teammate at risk. So those are things that I’m constantly harping on.”

What was that last paragraph about? Preventing a situation like Sean Lee in Dallas, where he blew out a knee in OTA’s, locking horns with a teammate.
