The best of Todd Bowles from today

Q)Do you feel good about David Harris playing?

Bowles: Yes.

Q)What makes Buster Skrine such a good blitzer?

Bowles: He has a knack to dip his shoulder and he’s very tough. He’s getting a knack for getting his timing down, disguising real good. You don’t know whether he’s coming or not. I think the art of disguise helps him more than anything.

Q)How big a challenge is the Redskins’ 350-pound nose tackle Terrance Knighton?

Bowles: He’s a big man. He’s tough. He’s hard to move, if you can move him at all. Not only that, he can move up and down the line of scrimmage. We have our work cut out for us on the o-line and they know that.

Q)How did Sheldon Richardson look in practice?

Bowles: He’s sharp mentally. He’s a quick football player. He’s only practiced a couple days. We’ve got to see in a week or two when his legs wear down to see where he is. But, right now he looks good.

Q)Why was Antonio Cromartie so far off Kenny Stills in the red zone in the Miami game on that fourth quarter touchdown – is that something he needs to clean up?

Bowles: He can get a better jump on the ball and seeing the quarterback. I think he was looking for one thing and got another.

Q)How much does Marcus Gilchrist help the communication in the secondary?

Bowles: He’s the key to the puzzle. He runs everything. Very bright guy. (He) studies. Real smart. Real mature. You can ask any one of the guys. He talks nonstop every play. He alerts everybody of everything that’s coming.

Q)Are you worried about depth in the secondary with Williams and Jarrett doubtful?

Bowles: No. We have plans.

Q)Has Willie Colon progressed?

Bowles: He looks a lot better. He’s done more and more every day. Sunday, I’ll be able to tell more when he gets two more days of rest.
