This kind of contract is a master motivator

This just in – football is a brutal sport.

Especially on this highest level of competition – the NFL.

It is extremely taxing physically and mentally.

So keeping players highly-motivated every week, to give a supreme effort, can be a challenge.

One-year contracts help, and the Jets have given out a number of those this off-season.

The beauty of one-year contracts in football is they keep players driven to put out great film for their next deal.

Just listen to new Dolphins WR Will Fuller, and what he told the South Florida media, about his deal with the Dolphins.

“I wanted to take a one-year just to prove my worth in the league,” said Fuller.

He added: “I just want to prove to the NFL, to the Dolphins for taking a chance on me, that I’m a player that they would love to have long-term.”

Sometimes, some players, can get lethargic, and display inconsistent motors, after signing lucrative long-term deals.

So one-year deals can be the ultimate dangling carrot, especially in a sport like football, that is so physically demanding.
