Some people think the Jets trade for Tim Tebow was disrespectful to Drew Stanton, who they just signed to theoretically be Mark Sanchez’s backup.
But you know what, it might not have a huge impact on Stanton’s role.
Tebow was brought in to be a Wildcat option for the Jets’ offense. He will come in to spell Sanchez, with a Wildcat formation, from time-to-time, like Brad Smith did.
If Sanchez was injured, or pulled as the starting quarterback, Stanton would likely still be the main option to take over as the starter, with Tebow staying in the Wildcat role.
Stanton is a better passer than Tebow.
