Three observations watching Zach Wilson today

Florham Park – On Thursday, the Jets had their first OTA practice open to the media.

So how did QB Zach Wilson look?

While you don’t want to make too many judgments off a spring practice because this time of year is about teaching and learning, here are a three takeaways after watching Wilson’s work on Thursday:

His arm talent is rare.

On back-to-back plays, in a 7-on-7 drill, he hit tight ends on crossing routes with absolute rockets over the middle. A few plays later, he did the same on a pass to WR Braxton Berrios.

The second observation is he’s a quick decision-maker, who surveys the field fast, and gets rid of the ball quickly.

The third observation is he looked very accurate, generally delivering the ball in ideal sports for the receivers to make plays.

Obviously, he still has a lot of work to do, but he clearly has some very good tools.
