Two teams interested in DeVito

In the latest issue of Jets Confidential Magazine, we reported that there are two teams showing some interest in free agent defensive end Mike DeVito.

Those two teams are Kansas City and New England.

The Chiefs make the most sense.

Their new defensive coordinator is long-time Jets assistant Bob Sutton, so it makes sense that he would want DeVito, who would come in and have a strong feel for the 3-4 scheme he’s installing, and provide leadership.

You know the Patriots’ coach Bill Belichick loves players like DeVito – smart, hard-working, tough, good character and says all the right things. New England would be a homecoming of sorts for DeVito, who spent most of his youth on Cape Cod, and then went to the University of Maine.

However, DeVito does have a lot of family in the New York-area. His family moved to “The Cape” from New York.

DeVito has made it clear he’d love to stay with the Jets, but he might get a better offer elsewhere.
