Why did the University of Maryland pick NFLPA chief DeMaurice Smith as their commencement speaker?
If it was for his successful career as a trial lawyer, that is fine.
But if it is for his work as the leader of the NFLPA, don’t you think it’s a little premature?
What has he accomplished in that roll thus far?
Not much.
Perhaps one day we will look back at him as a great head of the NFLPA.
But you don’t honor somebody for being named to a position.
You honor them for what they accomplish in the position.
