Jets star receiver Garrett Wilson had just five catches for 41 yards in the team’s 10-9 loss to Denver on Sunday. Wilson has just 20 catches in four games.
What is the issue?
“What about this Garrett Wilson, Aaron Rodgers combination – why haven’t we seen an explosion statistically? asked former NFL WR Nate Burleson on CBS. “They’re not on the same page. I’m just going to call it what it is.”
Former NFL QB Matt Ryan agrees.
“They’re not on the same page,” Ryan said on CBS. “I expect you to be at a certain spot at a certain time – forget all the rest – that is what I need.”
Ryan points to a certain play late in the Jets’ loss to Denver where Wilson and Rodgers weren’t on the same page.
“That was a chance late in that game – Garrett Wilson up the seam – a two-high look, to kind of bend that thing in towards the hash,” Ryan said. “He expects [Wilson] to be there.- saw [Rodgers’] frustration after that – the hands go to the helmet.”
What would Ryan say to his young receivers in a Monday meeting after a game like that:
“You need to get on my page, not your page, you need to get on my page.”
