In late August, the Jets acquired veteran defensive tackle Harrison Phillips in a trade with Minnesota.
And what Phillips was about to experience was something he wasn’t used to, a lot of losses with a rebuilding team, including losses in their first seven games.
At Stanford, he was on teams that never had a losing record and made bowl games three of the four years.
So, how is he dealing with a kind of new experience for him?
“I see individual weeks as a season, so the (next) game is the most important game of my entire life,” Phillips said recently.
And he lives by the “24-Hour Rule” after games.
“I give myself 24 hours after an amazing game with a sack to win the game, or after a poor performance,” Phillips said, “Those 24 hours are really tough, and my wife isn’t really happy with me with my ability to stay present (on Mondays).”
But then on Tuesday, he’s a new man.
