A sad part of regime change is people losing their jobs.
For some, these are just names on a transaction wire, but these are people with families and mortgages.
We all know that GMs and head coaches come and go – out with the old, in with the new – rinse and repeat.
Not really talking about them today. We kind of know the job GMs and head coaches have done based on their won-loss record.
But when support staff gets axed, some of these people might have actually done a good job, but are replaced because the new staff wants their people. It can be as simple as that.
And remember the support staff doesn’t have the final say on anything, so you can’t just say – “Well look at the record when they were there.”
You are starting to see names of people being ousted at 1 Jets Drive, names like Greg Nejmeh, David Socie and Mike Nicolini. There will be more to come.
This is what happens with constant regime change.
You not only churn the roster but the staff.
And some of these people might never work in the league again.
Some might, but many won’t. This could be the end of their NFL dream.
So these transactions you see are not all fun and games.
There is a human element to all of this.
