Former New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman went after low-hanging fruit while appearing recently on “The Herd” with Colin Cowherd, slamming Aaron Rodgers for missing the Jets’ recent minicamp.
“God forbid the New York Jets start 1-3 in the season, if they go 1-3, this is going to be such a big distraction for that locker room,” Edelman said. “Because everyone is going to be talking about it. This is New York City, it is the media capital of the world.”
Well, suppose the Jets start the season 1-3. In that case, the locker room should be distracted, because following a tough opener in San Francisco, they have three games against rebuilding teams with unsettled quarterback situations vs. Tennessee, New England and Denver.
They should be favorites in all those games, and if Rodgers can’t lead the Jets to wins against let’s say, Will Levis, Jacoby Brissett and Bo Nix, the Jets have huge problems.
If Rodgers stays healthy, it would be shocking if the Jets started 1-3 with their schedule. Shocking.
And not sure how much his absence from a two-day minicamp would have to do with that since he was there most of the spring.
But if they happen to start 1-3, the New York media market’s overrated toughness will be the least of their problems.
