This was somewhat ironic.
Last year, on the Jets’ fourth offensive play of the season, Buffalo Bills defensive end Leonard Floyd got by the Jets’ left tackle and sacked Aaron Rodgers, tearing the quarterback’s Achilles and ending his season.
This year, on the Jets’ fourth offensive play of the season, Floyd, now with the San Francisco 49ers, beat the Jets’ left tackle and was bearing down on Rodgers, and while this play ended on a bad note, the silver lining for the Jets was the negative aspect of this play-result didn’t involve Rodgers health.
Rodgers, perhaps thinking – ‘here we go again’ – with Floyd about to hit him, quickly flipped the ball forward to running back Breece Hall, who ended up fumbling running after the catch.
There is an old saying from historian George Santayana, “Those who don’t learn from history are doomed to repeat it.”
Rodgers wasn’t about to let history repeat itself.
