Aaron Glenn on some keys for Jets success . . .

Aaron Glenn has learned from some very good program builders over the years, working under the likes of R.C. Slocum, Bill Parcells, Sean Payton, and Dan Campbell.

So now that he’s running his own program, he has a good idea of what it takes to build a winner, and it’s not just about having great players.

“The first thing I learned is winning is not all about talent,” Glenn said recently. “It’s about the players that you bring in. It’s about the discipline that you have. It’s about the details that you have. It’s about the execution of your offense and your defense. If you get 11 men on the field that can do that, there’s a good chance that you’re going to be successful.”

And Glenn is looking not just for occasional winning seasons in Florham Park, but sustained success.

“When I was with Sean Payton (in New Orleans), he really taught me [about] sustained winning,” Glenn told SiriusXM NFL Radio. “There we went on a five-year stretch where we were winning 12, 13 games a year and getting to the playoffs. The good thing about what I’ve done maybe the last nine years is to understand how to take a team from the bottom and bring it to the top and then be able to sustain winning.”

Time will tell if he can turn the Jets into a sustained winner, but it certainly sounds like he has a plan.
