Glenn on defender – ‘There are things that he knows he has to get better at’

Jets defensive end Michael Clemons looks the part at a chiseled 6-5, 290 pounds.

“I tell you what, me and (Chris) Banjo were making a joke about this yesterday when they were doing the conditioning test,” said Jets coach Aaron Glenn on Wednesday. “If there is any player that I would like to look like, it would be him. He is built the way that you want to have a football player built.”

But after reviewing the player’s 2024 film, Glenn feels the massive end has some things to work on.

“There are things that he knows he has to get better at,” Glenn said. “I mean some of the penalties that he had last year, we talked about that; he has to improve on that.”

However, Glenn likes the player’s potential.

“He’s a big, strong, defensive end that can set an edge, and he does have some rush ability,” Glenn said. “The way that he rushes is probably different than the way other guys rush. He is a power player, so I expect him to go out there and play with power.”

Glenn joked he also likes Clemons because of the college he attended, the coach’s alma mater – Texas A&M University

“Come on now,” Glenn said, laughing. “That’s one of the reasons I like him.”

If Clemons can improve at shedding blocks, there will be even more for Glenn to like about him.
