Florham Park – After the Jets’ 30-10 blowout loss to Buffalo, a game the Bills ran for 224 yards, Jets coach Aaron Glenn was asked if he was thinking of getting more involved on the defensive side of the ball. In Week 1, the Jets gave up four touchdown passes in a loss to Pittsburgh.
Glenn didn’t have a chance to answer the question after the game because he was already leaving the podium, but he circled back to it, on his own, on Monday.
“I think the question was asked yesterday and I want to make sure that we understand this, I’m going to be a part of every phase of what we’re trying to do, the special teams, offense, and defense,” Glenn said. “But I have the ultimate confidence in each of my coordinators to go out there and do a good job, and I’m going to support them to the fullest.”
As for the state of the defense, he added, “Listen, there are some things that we have to do a better job of on defense, I know that. But the thing is we have to continue, just like I said before, we have to continue to understand exactly what we’re trying to do as a defense and just keep building these blocks. We have guys that play with high effort, it’s just now fundamentally we have to make sure that we are on the same page.”
Some would argue that a couple of areas they need to get on the “same page” defensively are communication in zone pass coverage and gap control against the run.
