On the Jets’ pre-game show on December 8, Jets owner Woody Johnson was interviewed.
During the interview, he was asked about what will go into the decision on Rex Ryan’s future.
Based on this response, Ryan helped himself in the Jets win over Cleveland.
“It’s really the direction of the team and how the young players are going,” Johnson said.
“The young players,” all performed well in the Jets-Browns game.
Cornerback Dee Milliner had his best game as a Jet, with nine tackles and five passes defensed; quarterback Geno Smith threw two touchdowns and ran for another, guard Brian Winters did some good run blocking and Sheldon Richardson had six tackles and a quarterback hit.
So if the maturation of “the young players,” is a criteria that GM John Idzik and Johnson are doing to judge Ryan by after the season, the Browns game might have helped the coach.
