New Orleans – Over the weekend, NFL insider Dianna Russini had a major announcement about Aaron Glenn’s job status.
In the midst of his first year as head coach, the team has shown no discernible improvement, aside from special teams, but Glenn’s “job is safe,” Russini announced.
“Aaron Glenn’s job is safe, and agents around the league are operating with the understanding that his position won’t be open,” Russini wrote on X. “Woody Johnson and the Jets organization recognize this rebuild will take time.”
According to Russini, Glenn’s first season was perhaps not about winning.
“This season has been about evaluating the roster, establishing a foundation and culture, and trusting Glenn’s long-term plan,” Russini tweeted.
Russini made it clear that the powers that be in Florham Park knew that this rebuild was going to “take time.”
“The organization recognizes this rebuild will take time,’ Russini wrote. “This season has been about evaluating the roster, establishing a foundation and culture and trusting Glenn’s long-term plan.
So for those wondering, that is the job status of Jets’ first-year head coach Aaron Glenn, whose team currently stands at 3-12, with back-to-back blowout losses to teams also with rookie head coaches establishing foundations – Jacksonville and New Orleans.
“Patience is a virtue,” Russini wrote. “Glenn believes the results will come later — and Johnson agrees. For now, the Jets are building the foundation … and betting on the long game.”
