New York Jets backup quarterback Mark Brunell is $24 million in debt from some bad real estate investments. He filed for bankruptcy, and on Thursday, on the phone from Philadelphia, had an interview with a Jacksonville bankruptcy judge.
“Mark wants to pay creditors to the extent possible, but he wants to do it in an organized fashion, and still pay his ordinary monthly expenses, which is his right under the bankruptcy code,” his lawyer Robert Wilcox told the Florida Times-Union. “He wants to do all he can. He is not trying to run away from his debts, everyone that knows him knows that is not the case. He is a very honorable guy.”
