Jets coach Aaron Glenn has no plans to bench QB Justin Fields, who is 0-5 as a starter this year, and is coming off a game he passed for 45 yards in a loss to Denver.
“When you look at what Justin did in the games that he had played, I didn’t think he looked bad at all,” Glenn said. “I actually think he did some pretty good things in those four games. In this fifth game, he took a step back.”
Glenn added, “I don’t think you just bench a player after having one true bad game.”
Some might find this quote a little perplexing because in the Jets’ Week Two loss to Buffalo, Fields threw for 27 yards before leaving the game early in the fourth quarter with a concussion.
So perhaps it wasn’t one bad game, it was two bad games. Then, in games Miami and Dallas, some would argue his performances were pedestrian, and compiled a lot of stats late, down big, against prevent defenses.
Fields had one truly strong game in 2025 in the Jets’ loss to Pittsburgh in Week 1.
So some observers might disagree with Coach Glenn that Fields only had one bad game.
But like legendary football coach Nick Saban often said, “Everyone looks at the world through a different set of eyes.”
