Belichick might be the GOAT, but he’s wrong about this . . .

Former Jets QB Sam Darnold threw four touchdowns in the Minnesota Vikings win over the Houston Texans on Sunday. The Vikings are now 3-0 with Darnold at QB. The former Jets QB has thrown eight touchdowns this season.

Former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick took a shot at the Jets regarding Darnold, the team’s 2018 first-round pick.

“I’ll say this: everybody has liked Darnold except the Jets,” Belichick said Monday on ESPN. “The people in Carolina I talked to, they really liked him. … I know that Kevin [O’Connell] and some of the coaches in Minnesota, they really like this guy, too. So it seems like the only people who didn’t like Darnold were the Jets.”

What about San Francisco? Darnold has been on four teams – the Jets, Carolina, San Francisco and Minnesota.

While Belichick was perhaps trying to be funny, some would argue his remark is not entirely accurate.

The Jets liked Darnold. You would have had difficulty finding anybody in the building who didn’t like Darnold during his three years in Florham Park. He’s a great guy and very hard-working.

The Jets moved on after three years because it just didn’t work out for the QB with the Jets. Darnold was 13-25 as the Jets starter. It was probably best for both sides to move on.

And the Jets certainly liked Darnold more than Carolina, a team that moved on following two seasons after trading multiple draft picks to the Jets for the player in 2021.
