Jets free agent addition, running back Chris Johnson, hasn’t been able to practice this spring since he’s still rehabbing a knee he had surgery on after last season.
How is he going about picking up the system since he’s getting no reps.
“Basically just being out there watching the plays and seeing how the plays are opening up,” Johnson said. “I’ve been in this league six years, so I think I’m getting it very quickly – learning the playbook very quickly. I think I’ll be alright.
“It’s tough because it’s my first time ever being injured and the first time going through rehab, so I’ve always been a guy that’s been there at the OTAs, (having) been able to go through it all. Once training camp gets here, I’m sure they’ll give me enough time to get rolling.”
How is his rehab coming along?
“I think I’m making good progress,” Johnson said. “I’ve always been a hard worker in the training room, in the weight room. So, right now I feel like I’m progressing very good.”
The Jets definitely need him on the field in training camp. He’s likely going to be a big part of the passing game as a receiver out of the backfield, so he must get his timing down with the quarterback(s).
