Geno Smith will start against the New York Giants in the Jets’ third preseason game.
“I’d love to see him get two, two and a half quarters,” said Jets quarterback coach David Lee.
Lee and the Jets’ coaches need to see more of Smith in game action to evaluate him properly.
“We need more film, more footage of Geno, he got shoot, two or three series (against Detroit),” Lee said.
The competition could last into the team’s fourth preseason game.
“Let’s go to the Philly game – it’s a rush to y’all, it isn’t to us,” Smith said. “It’s been too close to call.”
