Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post tweeted today – “Revis is telling friends that this compares to the Kendall, Baker, Coles and Leon situations in terms of the Jets breaking promises.”
First of all, what “promise” was broken to Coles? We aren’t aware of that one.
Secondly, do Revis and his agent know the country is basically in a recession and there is 17 percent unemployment (when you include the people who have given up). The state he lives in, New Jersey, is bankrupt and the governor is at war with the Teacher’s Union, trying to get them to take cuts. This isn’t a good time to reportedly be asking for $20 million per year.
And as for the breaking of promises, just because a team won’t give you the money you want doesn’t mean they are breaking their promise to give you a new deal.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – nothing wrong with $13 million a year for Revis. Who cares what the Raiders do? They are on another planet.
