Does Saleh’s theory hold water in the NFL world?

Aside from saying “he gives us our best chance to win,” something else Robert Saleh said about why he is sticking with QB Zach Wilson garnered a lot of attention on sports debate shows.

“You just don’t throw people away man,’ Saleh said.

But don’t NFL teams “throw people away” all the time?

Isn’t that a big part of the NFL world?

On August 29, the Jets cut their roster from 90 to 53 players. Some were brought back to the practice squad, but many are gone from the Jets forever.

So weren’t those players “thrown away?”

When the Jets had to make those cuts, Saleh said: “That’s the crappy part about this entire thing, especially with how long we’ve been in camp, having the Hall of Fame game. You just draw a connection and an appreciation for all of these guys — the way they go about their business and the way they’re fighting for jobs. These are the hard ones because some of them, you’re not saying goodbye forever, but some of them, their careers are ending. These are always the hard ones.”

So, in the NFL, you do “throw people away.”

It happens at the end of camp and throughout the year.

That is why there is a waiver wire.
