Dolphins add Mickey Shuler

The Miami Dolphins were awarded tight end Mickey Shuler off waivers, it was announced today. Shuler was originally a seventh-round draft pick (214th overall) of the Minnesota Vikings, where he was inactive for the team’s first two regular season games. Shuler was released by the Vikings on September 22, 2010.

Shuler attended Penn State University, where he started 13-of-41 games for the Nittany Lions. He also earned Academic All-Big Ten Conference Honors. His father, Mickey Sr., was an acclaimed tight end for the Nittany Lions, lettering from 1975-77 before embarking on a standout 14-year career in the National Football League. Born October 9, 1986, Shuler attended East Pennsboro High School in Enola, Pennsylvania where he was a three-sport standout in football, basketball and track and field.
