On Sunday, Fox’s Jay Glazer announced the Jets are moving on from QB Aaron Rodgers.
So new Jets head coach Aaron Glenn is going from Rodgers to the unknown at the NFL’s most important position.
He’s certainly rolling the dice with this move.
Most of the NFL coaches who got fired after last season had something in common – they didn’t have an answer at QB.
Last year, maybe the greatest coach of all time, Bill Belichick, got fired by New England because he didn’t have a good QB during his final four years with the Patriots after Tom Brady left.
So you could be perhaps the greatest coach of all time, and still get fired if you are sans an answer at QB.
Glenn was asked at his introductory press conference, what he looks for in a quarterback, and responded, “A winner.”
We will see if he can find one.
He obviously thinks he can because he’s moving on from Rodgers.
None of us have a crystal ball, so as of right now, nobody knows how this will turn out.
Time will tell.
