SUNY Cortland – Dan wraps up the week with another heaping helping of Website Whispers live from Cortland. Don’t miss out. Just $7.95 per month. Totally different content than our mag . . .
Rex Ryan didn’t seem too high on Donovan Warren when asked about the safety today.
“Today was a bad day,” Ryan said. “We put him in a goal-line situation and he never showed up on a flat route – he was supposed to be there. He has been up and down. Some days are better than others.”
I’m not a grassy knoll guy, but I think Rex isn’t going to praise Warren because he wants to stash him on the practice squad.
In all fairness to the kid, he’s never played safety before, so his struggles in camp aren’t a surprise . . .
Rex Ryan seemed a little pissed off at two reporters who called his mother about the cursing on the cable show . . .
Defensive end Jason Lamb had a good week as a pass rusher. He is a 6-4, 290-pound rookie free agent out of Baylor . . .
A testament to how well Rex takes care of his players in camp – there was only one player held out of practice on Friday due to a injury – free agent guard Marlon Davis (quad) . . .
This Larry Taylor is an impressive kick returner. He looks like the second coming of Leon Washington. He’s making himself very hard to cut . . .
The Wall Street Journal, on the Jets beat for the first year, has already changed beat writers. Kevin Clark is moving over to the Knicks, and taking over is Scott Cacciola . . .
Antonio Cromartie hit Jericho Cotchery in the back after a sideline reception, and the mild-mannered receiver didn’t seem too happy. He had a few words for the corner. While the Jets clearly want Cromartie to be more physical than he was in San Diego, what do they really get out of what he did on this play? . . .
Marcus Henry had a bad drop on a comeback route in the morning practice. This summer could be the end of the road for him with the Jets . . .
Andrae Allison is quietly having a good camp, and might be moving ahead of David Clowney for the fifth receiver spot . . .
Linebacker Brashton Satele (ankle) is back at practice, but clearly isn’t 100 percent . ..
A lot of times politicians pretend to be big fans of local teams for politcal gain.
Outgoing New York Governor David Paterson was at Jets camp on Friday afternoon, and after hearing him speak in his press briefing, this guy isn’t faking it – he’s a huge Jets fan . . .
I know he hasn’t been perfect, but Nick Folk looks more than adequate . . .
Steve Weatherford is kicking the heck out of the ball . . .
All this talk that Rex apologized for cursing on the cable show is very misleading. He has no intention of changing a thing . . .
This whole angle that John Connor might be out Tony Richardson is crazy. While the Jets love Connor, they aren’t starting a rookie fullback. He’ll play a lot, but on a team with Super Bowl aspirations, they aren’t dumping a guy like T-Rich for a raw rookie.
