Former Jets executive on team’s new RT – ‘He’s got elite feet’

We all know former Jets GM Joe Douglas loved scouting and picking offensive linemen.

So it should come as no surprise that Douglas loved what the Jets did in the 2025 first round, selecting Missouri offensive tackle Armand Membou.

“It’s a great pick – it’s a mentality pick,” Douglas said. “I think Membou has the most upside of any tackle in this draft. I think he’s got elite feet. I think he can bend and he’s got elite length too, so I think he can do a lot of different things. If you want to run power, he can do it, if you want to run zone, he can get to the second level and block linebackers.

“He’s a good player who went about against some great competition in the SEC, so I think this is a really good first pick for ‘AG’ and (Darren) Mougey.”

Something else Douglas likes about the Membou pick is that the Jets aren’t picking him to move him to another position. You often see college tackles picked and moved to guard, or college left tackles picked and moved to right tackle, but the Jets are picking this player to play his college position – right tackle, so he’s staying in his comfort zone.

“You are not projecting Membou at all, he’s a right tackle at Missouri and most likely will be right tackle for the Jets,” Douglas said.

Douglas feels the Jets are now set on the offensive line.

“You’re offensive line is done,” Douglas told Fox Sports. “You’ve got five good players for the foreseeable future. Look when ‘AG’ was in Detroit, they had an unbelievable line. With Membou, your offensive line is complete and a good group.”
