Getting Moses back should prophet the Jets . . .

Florham Park – The Jets should get Moses back this week. He missed the last two games with a knee injury.

The importance of this return is perhaps not getting enough attention.

The Jets had protection issues the last two games with QB Aaron Rodgers getting sacked eight times and hit 25 times.

There was plenty of blame to go around, but one of the issues was asking an outstanding college left tackle, to start at right tackle for Moses, early in his rookie season.

This was not Olu Fashanu’s fault, but he’s still not entirely comfortable at right tackle, which is totally understandable.

His last two years at Penn State, starting at left tackle, he didn’t allow a sack.

In the Jets’ loss to Denver, the player going against him, outside linebacker Jonathan Cooper, might have had the best game of his career.

Fashanu is a pure left tackle with very little experience on the right side. Switching sides is like going from speaking French to Spanish. It’s not as easy as some might assume.

Don’t take any of this as a criticism of Fashanu. He is the consummate team player and took one for the team. He is an elite left tackle prospect. Perhaps they could have used somebody more comfortable at right tackle for the two games Moses missed.

But getting a pure right tackle like Moses back will be huge for the Jets’ offensive line. This guy has been starting at NFL right tackle for the last decade. He knows all the whys and wherefores of the position.
